McCormack was night diving off the island of Mauritius when he was stung multiple times by box jellyfish, which are some of the most venomous creatures in the world. It was amazing that he was able to survive for as long as he did. At the time, McCormack was a devout atheist. He desperately clung to life as he attempted to make his way to a hospital.
